Respect and environmental protection are among the strategic factors selected by IBERDROLA GENERATION NUCLEAR S.A. for all its production facilities.
In this sense, Cofrentes Nuclear Power Plant (Cofrentes NPP) has since 1995 implemented an Environmental Management System (EMS) through which it aims to strengthen the competitive position of the plant, ensuring customer satisfaction, Environmental Protection and people.
The goodness of the EMS has been recognized and endorsed the certification against the standard UNE-EN ISO 14001: 2004 [PDF], managing to be the first Spanish nuclear power plant which obtained the Environmental Management Certificate [PDF] (CGM-96/008) of the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (AENOR).
This environmental commitment and which is reflected on the Principles of EMS requires Cofrentes NPP electric energy production in a manner respectful to the environment and a rational use of natural resources to contribute to sustainable development.
The certificate has been renewed until December 2014.
The Management of Cofrentes, belonging to the Management of Nuclear Generation of IBERDROLA GENERATION NUCLEAR S.A. is responsible for the operation of Cofrentes NPP and considers quality as one of the key factors, both for safety and for managing business excellence.
The Cofrentes NPP has since 1995 Certificate of Company Registration number ER-0121/1/95 [PDF] granted by AENOR and IQNet [PDF] according to the UNE-EN-ISO 9001/2008. AENOR, Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification, is an accredited certification body in Spain by ENAC (National Accreditation of Certification) with the number 01/C-SC003.
The Quality System applies to all individuals and units engaged in activities relating to systems, equipment and components that may affect the quality of power supply conducted by Cofrentes NPP, as well as safety and radiological protection of people, facilities and environment.
Because of the specific regulations applicable to nuclear power plants, Cofrentes NPP has a Quality Assurance Program to ensure that harvesting is done with the necessary technical and human resources, with adequate external technical support and in accordance with the specifications and requirements of the Operating Permit from the plant.
Quality Certification has been renewed until December 2014.
