Students of the Master’s Degree in Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection of the Polytechnic University of Valencia visit the Cofrentes power plant.

Within the framework of Iberdrola’s collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the Cofrentes nuclear power plant was visited by students of the Master’s Degree in Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection of the School of Industrial Engineering.
For the students, the close knowledge of a nuclear power plant is an experience that reinforces the teachings acquired in the Master’s Degree and also allows them to orientate possible professional opportunities from a perspective of greater knowledge of the nuclear sector.

At the plant, they were given a presentation of the characteristics of the plant and its operation, focusing on nuclear safety aspects and the organisation and activities carried out by the radiological protection service, as this is one of the most specific areas of the facility, in which the students were able to learn in a practical way about the means and concepts used to carry out the radiological protection of the workers, the public and the environment.

In the final part of the visit, the group had the opportunity to visit the reactor building, the fuel building and the full-scope simulator.
